INDICATIONS

Internal Parasites
  • Gastrointestinal Roundworms: Treats species such as Ostertagia, Haemonchus, and Cooperia.
  • Lungworms: Effective against Dictyocaulus species that infect the respiratory tract.
  • Eye and Muscle Worms: Treats various tissue-dwelling and ocular nematodes.

External Parasites

  • Mites: Controls mange caused by Demodex, Sarcoptes, and Otodectes (ear mites).
  • Lice: Treats sucking and biting lice infestations.
  • Ticks: Effective against certain tick species, though it is usually used in combination with other treatments for residual protection.

ADMINISTRATION

  • Route: Must be given strictly via subcutaneous (S/C) injection under loose skin (e.g., in front of or behind the shoulder in cattle; behind the ear in swine).
  • Breed Contraindications: Ivermectin can cause fatal neurotoxicity in dogs with the MDR1 gene mutation (commonly found in Collies, Australian Shepherds, and Shelties). It should never be given to these breeds.
  • Withdrawal Period: Food-producing animals must observe a strict withdrawal period before slaughter to prevent drug residues in meat or milk intended for human consumption.
