Intas NEOMEC (Ivermectin) is an oral drench to treat and control internal and external parasitic infections in livestock and equines.
INDICATIONS
- Bacterial Enteritis: Treatment of intestinal bacterial infections, specifically colibacillosis or diarrhea caused by Escherichia coli (\(E. coli\)) in livestock and, when prescribed, pets.
- Local Gastrointestinal Infections: It is highly effective in the gut because it is poorly absorbed into the bloodstream, allowing it to act directly on intestinal pathogens.
- Pre-Surgery: Sometimes used before gastrointestinal surgery to reduce bacterial load.
- Targeted Species: Commonly labeled for cattle, swine, sheep, goats, and sometimes used off-label for dogs, cats, and horses.
ADMINISTRATION
- Dosage: Must be based on individual body weight and consumption.
- Duration: Usually administered for 24 to 48 hours beyond the remission of symptoms, but not to exceed 14 consecutive days.
- Systemic Infections: Not effective against systemic infections such as pneumonia.
- Kidney Toxicity: High doses or prolonged use can cause kidney damage (nephrotoxicity).
