Intas NYZOM (isometamidium HCL) is a veterinary medication used to treat and prevent trypanosomiasis (Surra) and related protozoal infections in livestock and companion animals.
INDICATIONS
- Targeted Treatment: Used to treat acute, sub-acute, and chronic Trypanosoma infections in animals.
- Preventive Use (Prophylaxis): Used to prevent Trypanosomiasis in high-risk, tsetse fly-infested regions, providing protection for roughly 2 to 4 months.
- Target Parasites: Effective against Trypanosoma spp. (e.g., T. evansi, T. congolense, T. vivax).
- Species Treated: Suitable for cattle, buffaloes, sheep, goats, camels, horses, and dogs.
ADMINISTRATION
- Route: Deep intramuscular (IM) injection is recommended; subcutaneous administration should be avoided.
- Mechanism: It acts as an antiprotozoal by disrupting the parasite’s energy metabolism.
- Withdrawal Times: The recommended withdrawal period for meat is 30 days; 0 days for milk.
- Precautions: It is generally recommended to avoid concurrent use with other trypanocidal drugs.
