Intas INTACEF TAZO (ceftriaxone & tazobactam) is a broad-spectrum antibiotic indicated for severe, complicated or resistant bacterial infections in companion animals and livestock.

INDICATIONS

    • Respiratory Tract Infections: Severe bronchopneumonia, aspiration pneumonia, and upper respiratory complications.
    • Reproductive and Urogenital Infections: Mastitis (inflammation of the udder in dairy animals), metritis/endometritis (uterine infections), pyometra, and cystitis.
    • Surgical Prophylaxis & Peri-operative Care

      Administered before or after invasive procedures to prevent post-surgical site infections.

    • Sepsis and Septicemia: Severe bloodstream infections and acute conditions like hemorrhagic septicemia in livestock.
    • Skin and Soft Tissue Infections: Deep pyoderma, extensive wounds, abscesses, and severe bacterial dermatitis.
    • Bone and Joint Infections: Infectious osteoarthritis, osteomyelitis, and joint ill.
    • Gastrointestinal & Intra-Abdominal Infections: Peritonitis and biliary tract infections.
    • Central Nervous System Infections: Bacterial meningitis, as Ceftriaxone effectively crosses the blood-brain barrier.

    ADMINISTRATION

      • Route: Administered via intravenous (IV) or intramuscular (IM) injection.
      • Dogs & Cats: 15 to 30 mg/kg of body weight administered daily for 3 to 5 days.
      • Cattle & Buffalo: 20 to 25 mg/kg of body weight depending on the specific formulation strength.
      • Contraindications: Do not use in animals with known hypersensitivity to cephalosporins or penicillins. It must be avoided or carefully dose-adjusted in neonates, young puppies/kittens, or animals with advanced kidney or liver disease.
      • Withdrawal Periods (For Livestock): When treating food-producing animals, strict safety withdrawal periods must be observed before food consumption: 7 days for milk and 28 days for meat.
